Natural Health - How to Use Ayurveda and Sesame Oil to Relieve Stress Or Pain

Let's face it, stress can take it's toll on our health.

Often you need a solution and you need it fast. We can't always change the stress that's in our life, the only solution is to change our response to it so it doesn't make us sick, literally.

Ayurveda, the 5000 year old medical system from India can help.

Often if you visit a physician he will prescribe a medication, usually a narcotic designed to relieve anxiety and tension. The only problem is they often cause lethargy, light headedness, or make you drowsy. Not a good thing if you are at work, or planning on driving your kids to soccer practice.

In Ayurveda stress related symptoms are usually the result of a "vata" imbalance. To restore harmony and balance an Ayurvedic doctor or practitioner will prescribe Abyhanga, a massage technique. Frequently this is performed in an office or spa setting but you can easily do it at home to make it a cost effective, regular treatment for stress, pain, and insomnia.

Sesame oil, unrefined ,is massaged on the entire body. It is best done with warm oil. Beginning at the top of the head rubbing in circular motions in the large joint areas and straight strokes over the long bones, massage your entire body.

This is best done in the morning, in a warm bathroom, prior to bathing. However, an equally effective, shorter version that promotes deep and restful sleep can be done at bedtime. Massage the oil into the scalp and bottoms of your feet. (You can wrap your head and wear socks to protect your sheets)

Using this technique regularly provides quick and permanent relief. The benefits and results get better and better the more you do it. You'll be surprised that something so simple can have such a calming and healing effect on you and your health.
